What is a Center of Excellence in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery™?

The Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) has established the Center of Excellence program to recognize a partnership between a medical facility and surgeon(s) for their contribution to the betterment of bariatric treatment.

Dr. Farhad Anoosh, MD, FACS, FASMBS, is designated by (SRC) as a surgeon for the Center of Excellence in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery™ (COEMBS™).

To date, only 22 bariatric programs in the United States hold this honor, as they must abide by rigorous standards to earn such prestigious recognition. These standards consist of various measures that gauge the program’s ability to administer quality patient care, treatment, safety, and surgical expertise—all at the highest level.

In order to achieve the title of Center of Excellence, a Bariatric program must pass an intensive site inspection conducted by the SRC that examines every aspect of the program. The inspection process includes:

• Comprehensive review of all requirements instituted by the SRC.
• Collection and analysis of surgical data to confirm the fulfillment of surgery volume and successful outcomes.
• Survey of all areas within facility where bariatric patients receive treatment.
• Evaluation of hospital personnel regarding various medical situations.

We are proud that Dr. Anoosh have continuously maintained our status as a Center of Excellence in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery™ since 2013. Not only have we successfully completed all of our inspections but have greatly surpassed the standards to which a Center of Excellence must adhere by establishing our own benchmark in excellence as pioneers in bariatric surgery and treatment.
